A new toothpaste rarely treats the cause. Hygiene and a gum exam first, home care second.
Blood on the brush in the morning gets blamed on “hard bristles”. Often it is inflammation from calculus and plaque under the gums. Professional hygiene at the first complexity level is about UAH 2,350 here; periodontal hygiene about UAH 2,850. If there are already pockets and mobility, one cleaning is not enough.

Plaque and calculus keep bacteria at the gum edge. Tissue answers with swelling and blood. Smoking, poorly fitting crowns, pregnancy, some medicines — they make it worse. Cancer or a “scary internet disease” is not the first hypothesis, but chronic bleeding is not ignored.
Exam, hygiene indices, a radiograph if needed. Then ultrasound and Air Flow, or deeper periodontal hygiene. If it is periodontitis, we set a maintenance schedule — not “cleaned once and forever”.
A soft brush, interdental brushes or floss the way the dentist shows — not “to blood for cleanliness”. Bleeding can briefly increase in the first days of proper hygiene. That is not a reason to go back to a hard brush once a week.
Pus, mobile teeth, receding gums, an odour that survives a cleaning. Then we talk periodontics, and sometimes extraction of teeth that will not hold. We do not place an implant into an inflamed field “to look nice”.
Mouthwash does not remove calculus. It is an add-on after mechanical cleaning, not a substitute. Blood every morning means a booking, not a new bottle from the pharmacy.
Once a year for some people, every three to four months for others. The dentist sets the interval after seeing how fast you form calculus.
We numb sensitive gums. You do not have to “tough it out for quality”. Say if you are anxious before we start — we will pace it.
Deficiencies exist, but in an adult in Lviv the first cause is still plaque. Blood tests follow clinical need, not instead of the ultrasonic scaler.
