Gum and periodontitis treatment in Lviv
Bleeding, odour, exposed necks: hygiene and a periodontal chart first, not a “laser clean in an hour”.
Periodontitis is inflammation around the tooth, not “just tartar”. Without a pocket chart and regular hygiene, any “gum treatment” lasts weeks. At Dental Story we start with an exam, images, and periodontal hygiene. Pocket surgery only when closed cleaning is no longer enough.
How we treat gums
A chart, not a guess
We measure pockets and note where it bleeds. Otherwise you cannot tell if treatment moved the needle.
Hygiene is the treatment
Tartar under the gum keeps the inflammation going. Periodontal hygiene is step one, not cosmetics.
Home matters more than the chair
Without interdental brushes and plaque control, pockets return. We teach — we do not just say “brush better”.
No miracle in one visit
Lost bone does not grow back from a single session. We say what we can stabilise and what is already late.
How gum treatment works
- 1
Exam and chart
Complaints, bleeding, mobility, pocket measurements, an image if needed.
- 2
Periodontal hygiene
We remove tartar above and below the gum and plane the roots where we can reach.
- 3
Curettage when indicated
Closed when pockets are moderate. Open when the floor cannot be reached without a flap.
- 4
Review and splinting
We re-check pockets. Loose teeth can be splinted so they do not “walk”.
Gum FAQ
Why do my gums bleed when I brush?
Most often inflammation from plaque, not a “brush that is too hard”. Blood is a reason for hygiene and a chart — not a reason to brush less.
Can periodontitis be cured for good?
It can be controlled, not “cured like a cold”. It is chronic: hygiene in the chair and at home, several times a year.
Will a “laser gum treatment” help?
A laser does not replace tartar removal and hygiene coaching. We do not sell a procedure that is not in the plan after the chart.
My teeth have started to loosen. Too late?
Not always. Some stabilise with hygiene, curettage, and a splint. If almost no bone is left — we talk honestly about extraction and an implant.
Is periodontitis only about hygiene?
Plaque is the main driver. Blood sugar, smoking, and a tight bite worsen the outlook. That is not an excuse to skip a clean, but the plan accounts for it.
