Decay does not “go away”. Early on, one filling is often enough. Night pain or a sharp reaction to cold may mean the nerve — and a filling will not be enough. At Dental Story we examine first, take an image if needed, then plan — we do not start the drill on sight.

We check whether this is a surface defect or pulpitis. That decides the visit, not a “standard filling”.

Only decayed tissue comes out. We do not drill healthy enamel “just in case”.

A composite matched to the tooth. The shade is chosen in the chair, not from a one-size catalogue.

If almost no wall is left — we talk about an onlay or a crown, not a giant filling “for a year”.

Exam
We look at the teeth and ask about pain and sensitivity. An X-ray if the decision would otherwise be blind.

Anaesthetic, isolation, decay removal, filling. You feel pressure, not pain.

We adjust the height so it is not “high” and give simple rules for the first day.
Cavity FAQ
Can a cavity be treated without a filling?
Early demineralisation can sometimes be held with hygiene and fluoride. A hole needs a filling. Home remedies do not close decay.
How long does one tooth take?
A usual filling is about an hour. Several surfaces or deep decay take longer. If the nerve opens, the plan becomes endodontics.
Does a filling hurt?
Not under anaesthetic. The injection stings for a few seconds. Cold sensitivity afterwards is common and fades.
Why did a filling fall out after a year?
A large filling on thin walls, a heavy bite, or decay at the edge. Sometimes the tooth already needed a crown — we will say so this time.
How much does cavity treatment cost?
