Root canal treatment in Lviv

When it hurts from the inside: we clear the infection from the canals so the tooth stays yours instead of coming out.

A root canal is needed for pulpitis, apical periodontitis, or a previous canal that has failed. It is not “clean the nerve in five minutes”: canals differ in number and shape. We work from an image; complex canals and retreatments go under the microscope. We fix a plan and say whether the tooth will need a crown afterwards.

Why root canals at Dental Story

The aim is to keep the tooth

Extraction is simpler. We do canals when the root and bone give a chance — not for the file.

An image before and after

Without an image, length and shape are a guess. A control film shows whether the canal is sealed.

An honest scope

One canal and four are different work and a different price. We name it after diagnostics, not a “menu average”.

Then we restore it

After canals the tooth is brittle. An onlay and a crown are often needed; a filling across the whole tooth holds worse.

How a root canal works

  1. 1

    Exam and image

Pain, a cold test, a periapical X-ray or CT if the anatomy is complex.

  2. 2

    The plan

How many canals, one visit or two, and whether a crown follows.

  3. 3

    Cleaning the canals

Anaesthetic, isolation, pulp removal, irrigation, and filling the canals.

  4. 4

    Restoring the crown

A temporary or permanent restoration. A prosthodontist next if needed.

Root canal FAQ

Must the nerve always come out if it hurts?

No. Sometimes it is deep decay without pulpitis. Tests and an image decide. We will not “prophylactically” kill a healthy nerve.

How many visits?

A simple single-canal tooth can be one visit. Multi-canal or an abscess is often two. We know after the image.

Does a root canal hurt?

Not under anaesthetic. It may ache for a few days afterwards, especially if there was infection. That does not mean it “was not finished”.

Why a crown after a root canal?

A tooth without pulp dries and cracks more easily. A large filling does not hold the walls. A crown protects what is left — it is not an upsell.

Can you redo canals from another clinic?

Often yes, if the root can still be saved. If a file is broken deep or the wall is perforated, we give the odds before we start.
