3D diagnostics, CT and X-ray in Lviv
Dental CT, a panoramic film, and a periapical X-ray — so the treatment plan rests on an image, not a guess.
Without a proper image, implants, root canals, and orthodontics are a lottery. At Dental Story we take 3D CT, panoramic, and periapical X-rays. We explain why this image, and we do not order a CT “just in case”.
Why an image before treatment
3D CT for implants and canals
We see bone volume, the sinus, the nerve, and canal shape — before the handpiece comes out.
A panoramic view of both jaws
One image shows teeth, unerupted teeth, joints, and hidden lesions you cannot see in the chair.
A periapical X-ray
Targeted: a filling, a canal, or a root tip — a lower dose when 3D is not needed.
Imaging for the task
We do not shoot “everything”. The dentist chooses the study after the exam.
How diagnostics works
- 1
Exam
The dentist decides whether a periapical film is enough, or a panoramic or CT is needed.
- 2
The image
A quick, non-invasive scan, a few seconds. For CT we remove jewellery and explain the posture.
- 3
Review on screen
We show what is visible, in plain language — not just “this bit is dark”.
- 4
A treatment plan
Implant, canals, orthodontics, or watchful waiting — based on the image.
Imaging FAQ
How is CT different from a panoramic?
A panoramic is a flat view of both jaws. CT is 3D: bone thickness, sinus, nerve. Implants and complex canals need 3D; a routine check often needs only a panoramic.
Are X-rays safe?
Modern units use a low dose. We do not image without a reason and do not repeat “just in case”. Tell us about pregnancy before the image — we pick the gentlest option or wait.
Can I bring an image from another clinic?
Yes, if it is recent and readable. If the quality is not enough to decide, we take our own rather than guess from a blurry file.
How long does a CT take?
The scan itself is seconds. With setup and saving the file — a few minutes.
Does a child need an X-ray?
When there is a reason: trauma, delayed eruption, orthodontics. Dose and type are chosen for age, not copied from an adult protocol.
