Whitening lightens your own enamel, not fillings or crowns. So we start with hygiene and an exam: if there is decay or cracks, we treat first, then choose a whitening protocol.

Why whitening at Dental Story

Hygiene first

We do not bleach over plaque: we clean first, so the colour is real, not “dirty”.

Sensitivity under control

We pick the concentration and remineralise afterwards so teeth do not ache for weeks.

An honest forecast

We show how many shades lighter your enamel can realistically get — no “Hollywood in an hour”.

Home top-up

When useful we give trays and gel so the result lasts longer between visits.

Before / after

Compare a typical look before and after the procedure. Outcomes vary by clinical situation.

How whitening works

  1. 1

    Exam and hygiene

We check teeth and gums, then remove plaque and tartar.

  2. 2

    Gum protection

We isolate soft tissue so the gel works only on enamel.

  3. 3

    Gel cycles

Several in-office gel cycles under the dentist’s control.

  4. 4

    Aftercare

A short “white diet” and advice on how to keep the shade.

Whitening FAQ

How many shades lighter?

Usually 2–6 Vita shades — it depends on the starting colour and the type of stain. An exact forecast after the exam.

Does whitening damage enamel?

With a proper protocol the risk to enamel is low; we check contraindications at the consultation. We do not whiten teeth with decay, wedge-shaped (abfraction) lesions or exposed roots without preparation.

How long does it last?

From a few months to two years. Coffee, wine, and smoking bring pigment back faster; hygiene twice a year helps it last.

Do fillings and veneers whiten?

No. Artificial materials do not change colour. Sometimes they need replacing to match the new enamel shade.

Pregnancy or breastfeeding?

We do not do in-office whitening then. We offer hygiene and a plan for afterwards.
