Adults often want “invisible straightening”. Aligners are genuinely convenient in some cases. A complex bite, rotated teeth, a teenager — sometimes a fixed appliance is more reliable. Fitting a metal system on one arch is about UAH 14,800 on our list. That is not the cost of the whole course.

When aligners make sense

Moderate crowding, willingness to wear trays 20+ hours a day, an adult who cares about aesthetics at work. You need scans, imaging, and a plan. Without discipline the trays sit in a case and the teeth stay put.

When braces are more honest

Marked discrepancies, a need for tighter control of tooth movement, a teenager who will “forget” trays. Metal, ceramic, self-ligating — different budgets and looks, the same requirement: hygiene and visits on schedule.

What the fitting figure does not include

Diagnostics, debonding, retainers, extra elastics, sometimes surgery. “Braces for 14,800 turnkey” is not how the market works. Ask for the full plan before brackets go on, not after.

How long it takes

Months or years — it depends on the starting point. Anyone promising “perfect in 8 weeks for everyone” is selling expectation, not orthodontics. At the consultation we give a time range for your scans.

Are aligners always more expensive?

Often yes, because it is a series of trays and a digital plan. Compare the full course, not the first payment. After the exam we quote both, if both options are even indicated.

Can we start without extracting teeth?

Sometimes yes, sometimes space has to be created. “No extractions” as a slogan ignores anatomy. The decision follows imaging, not this article.

Does it hurt?

A few days of pressure after an adjustment or a new tray is expected. Sharp pain, ulcers that will not heal, or a tray that will not seat — message us; do not tough it out for a week.

What if I stop early?

Teeth have a memory. Without a retainer the result drifts back. Orthodontics is also retention, not only “straighten and forget”.
